Cookies

A cookie, also known as a web cookie, browser cookie, and HTTP cookie, is a piece of text stored by a user's web browser. A cookie can be used for authentication, storing site preferences, etc. Cookies are useful in this site for storing your login details. Therefore it would be very useful to know how to enable cookies so that you don't have to keep remembering your password details!

Internet Explorer

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Click on "Tools" from the menu bar (If you don't have a menu bar showing, click F10 or (Alt + L)
  3. Choose "Internet Options"
  4. Click on the "Privacy" tab
  5. Move the slider to "Medium"
  6. Click OK

If you find you do not have an "Privacy" tab (point 3 above) please refer to your in-house IT department as your company security policy may prohibit you making these changes.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Mozilla Firefox
  2. Click on "Tools" on the menu bar (If you don't have a menu bar showing, click F10 or (Alt)
  3. Click on "Options"
  4. Click on the"Privacy" tab
  5. In "History Firefox will:", select "Remember history" from the drop down box. You could select "Use custom settings for history" if you wanted to be more precise.

If you find you do not have a "Privacy" tab (point 4 above) please refer to your in-house IT department as your company security policy may prohibit you making these changes.

Google Chrome

  1. Open Google Chrome
  2. Click on the "spanner" icon in the top right corner
  3. Click on "Options" - this will open a message box - Google Chrome Options
  4. Select the "Under the Bonnet" tab
  5. Click on the "Content settings..." button - this will open a message box - Content Settings
  6. Click on Cookies in the left panel and make sure the "Allow local data to be set (recommended)" toggle is selected

If you find you do not have an "Under the Bonnet" tab (point 4 above) please refer to your in-house IT department as your company security policy may prohibit you making these changes.

Safari

  1. Open Safari
  2. Click on the "cog" icon in the top right corner or click on help on the menu bar (menu bar not showing? Then press (Alt)
  3. Click on "Preferences" - this opens a message box with icon tabs across the top
  4. Select the "Security" tab
  5. In the "Accept cookies" section, select either "Always" or "Only from sites I visit"

If you find you do not have a "Security" tab (point 4 above) please refer to your in-house IT department as your company security policy may prohibit you making these changes.
